What unlocks each of Stardew Valley's 231 cooking and crafting recipes

231 recipes split into two buckets here: 150 crafting recipes you place right from the inventory screen, and 81 cooking recipes that need a Kitchen (or a campfire, if you’ve got the right perk). Every entry carries the full ingredient list, what it makes, and what unlocks it, because the game itself rarely spells out that last part on screen. 12 recipes are yours from day one. Everything else unlocks off a friendship heart, a skill level, a shop purchase, a piece of mail, a cutscene, or the Queen of Sauce.

How Recipes Work

Cooking vs Crafting

Crafting recipes cover tools, machines, fences, and the big-craftable furniture you place around the farm, used right off the crafting menu once you’ve got the ingredients. Cooking recipes work only at a Kitchen or a campfire with the right perk, turning raw ingredients into a dish that restores more energy than the raw item and usually carries a buff on top. The two lists never overlap: a recipe belongs to one or the other, never both.

How Recipes Unlock

37 recipes arrive by letter once you reach a friendship milestone with a villager, and 80 come with a skill level like Fishing 6 or Farming 9. The rest are bought (Gus’s Saloon, Robin, Krobus, Mr. Qi and the traders sell about fifty between them), taught by one of 32 Queen of Sauce episodes or its cookbook, sent as a special order reward, or handed over in a cutscene. Some recipes list a “player level” in the game files, but nothing in the game ever checks it, so it isn’t shown here.
