Slay the Spire 2 is Mega Crit's sequel to the deckbuilder that started the genre, in Steam Early Access since March 5, 2026. The card-by-card climb from the original is still the core loop, but a 4-player co-op mode now sits alongside solo play. Five classes are playable so far: returning names Ironclad, Silent, and Defect, plus two newcomers, the Regent and the Necrobinder. Expect balance changes and new content on a regular patch cadence while Early Access continues.

You never aim in Vampire Survivors and you never press fire. Every weapon swings on a timer you don't control, so the only decisions you get are which upgrade to take at each level-up and where to stand while a few hundred skeletons close in. Last thirty minutes on one of the main stages and the Reaper turns up to kill you anyway. Poncle put version 0.1 on itch.io in March 2021, went into Steam Early Access that December and launched 1.0 on 20 October 2022; six paid DLCs later it is still shipping free content updates.

Stardew Valley opens with a dead-end cubicle job at Joja Corp and a sealed envelope from your late grandfather. Open it and you inherit his rundown farm in Pelican Town: plant and harvest crops, fish the rivers and ocean, mine down through the Skull Cavern, or spend your time courting one of the 34 people who live around town. Eric Barone built the game alone under the name ConcernedApe and hasn't stopped patching it since its 2016 launch; the 1.6 update in 2024 added a mastery system and four new crops you can't buy from any store.

Supergiant Games built Hades II as the sequel to Hades, swapping Zagreus for his sister Melinoë as she hunts down Chronos, the Titan of Time who dethroned their family. It left Early Access and hit 1.0 in 2025, keeping the same isometric action-roguelike combat and Supergiant's fully voiced, mythology-nerd dialogue. Melinoë fights with a spellbook this time: Cast and Channel draw on a Magick meter alongside her weapon's attack and special, changing how combat reads compared to her brother's game.

Balatro is a poker-hand roguelike from solo developer LocalThunk, published by Playstack. Build a deck, then clear a rising score threshold each round using Chips and Mult instead of a hand's usual point value. Jokers change how that math runs, Planet cards level up your best hand for the rest of that run, and Tarot and Spectral cards edit the deck itself. Eight Antes separate you from a win, and one poorly timed Boss Blind ends it cold.

Hopoo Games built Risk of Rain 2 as a third-person roguelike shooter, and Gearbox has kept it running since. A run timer scales every monster's stats as soon as you land on a stage, so standing still costs you more than dying does. You fight through waves of enemies, loot everything you can reach, and hit the teleporter to force a boss fight before moving on. Items stack without limit, so a starting Survivor turns into something unrecognizable by the time you reach Commencement, and Alloyed Collective, out since November 2025, is the current expansion.

PEAK is a co-op climbing game built by Team PEAK, the joint studio Aggro Crab and Landfall formed for it, and released in June 2025. Up to four scouts get marooned on a mysterious island with one way off it: reach the summit. Stamina, hunger, and injury all climb right along with you, and letting any one hit zero ends the expedition early. There's no combat to speak of, just terrain, weather, and the odd territorial animal standing between your crew and the top.

R.E.P.O. is a six-player co-op horror game from the Swedish studio semiwork, out in Early Access on Steam since February 2025. You haul fragile, physics-based Valuables out of monster-filled levels and back to a truck before a rising cash quota buries the crew. Drop a Valuable, throw it, or bash it into a doorway, and its payout drops with it, so careful carrying matters as much as staying alive. Proximity voice chat pitches your voice higher when you look up and lower when you look down, so coordinating with your crew under pressure also broadcasts your position to whatever's hunting you.

Supergiant Games pulled Hades out of Early Access in September 2020, after two years of patches built around what players reported and asked for. You play Zagreus, immortal prince of the Underworld, cutting through Tartarus, Asphodel, and Elysium toward the world above, one escape attempt at a time. Each attempt pairs a single Infernal Arm with whatever Boons the Olympian gods are offering that run, and dying just sends Zagreus back to the House of Hades to try again. The dialogue keeps advancing with every death, win or lose.

Slay the Spire is Mega Crit's deck-building roguelike, the game most other card-based roguelikes get measured against. Pick one of four characters, Ironclad, Silent, Defect, or Watcher, and fight up through the Spire's three Acts, drafting a new card, relic, or potion after nearly every encounter. Each class plays like a different game entirely: the Ironclad brawls on Strength and HP loss, the Silent chains Poison and Shivs, the Defect juggles elemental Orbs, and the Watcher swings between meditative Calm and all-out Wrath.
