20 optional Custom Mode modifiers, each one Good or Bad
Data from build 23811903, updated
Custom Mode's 20 rule-changing modifiers toggle on at the run-setup screen, not from Neow, and picking certain ones switches Neow's usual starting bonuses off entirely. You won't see the toggle screen until you've beaten Glory, the game's third act, three times, so this is late-game content, not something you stumble into on your first climb. Each modifier carries a Good or Bad tag, and most Bad ones bundle in a real advantage to offset the pain. Midas dumps 200% more gold on you but shuts off Smithing at Rest Sites; Terminal bleeds Max HP every room but starts you with free Plating each fight. Three deck-altering picks, Draft, Sealed Deck, and Insanity, are mutually exclusive, so enabling one locks out the other two. Read the tag, but don't stop there: a "Bad" modifier built around the resource you're chasing can outclass every Good one on the list.
