7 suitcases and what each can hold, biome by biome
Data from build 24676019, updated
Luggage is where most of a run's gear comes from, and what's inside depends on which suitcase it is and where it's sitting. The small and big suitcases draw from the loot pool of the biome they're in, so the same case gives Shore loot at the bottom and Alpine or Mesa loot further up. The explorer's and clown cases always draw their own pool. The accursed and ancient cases hand over a single pick from a pool of legendary and mythic finds, and hurt whoever opens them. One more suitcase shares the small one's name and holds nothing but a cloud of Drowsy gas. Every table below is the game's own, with each item's chance per pick.
Every item in a pool gets a weight from its rarity alone: Common 100, Uncommon 50, Rare 35, Epic 20, Legendary 15, Mythic 6, Ridiculously Rare 3. Its chance per pick is that weight over the pool’s total, so a Common is twice as likely as an Uncommon in the same suitcase, and the same Rare is likelier in a small pool than in a crowded one.
The small and big suitcases pick their pool by where they sit: Shore loot at the bottom, then whichever of today’s biomes they are standing in once they are high enough. The explorer’s, clown and cursed suitcases always draw their own fixed pool, wherever they turn up.
